Miami Hurricanes First Round Picks
The first joint NFL-AFL Draft took place in 1967; from 1936 to 1966 the NFL drafted separately from all other leagues. No Miami Hurricanes were selected in the first round of any of the AFL Drafts (1960-1966), although the selection order is not available for the 1960 AFL Draft in which three Miami Hurricanes were selected: Jim Otto (C), Fran Curci (QB) and Robert Rosbaugh (RB). The first post-merger draft took place in 1970.
- Sixty-one (61) Miami Hurricanes have been selected in the first round since the NFL Draft began in 1936.
- For fourteen (14) consecutive years a Hurricane was chosen in the first round of the NFL Draft (1995 – 2008).
- Six (6) Hurricanes selected in the 1st round of the 2004 Draft, an NFL record.
- Three (3) Hurricanes were selected 1st overall (Cam Ward, Russell Maryland, Vinny Testaverde)
- All but two (2) current NFL teams have taken a Hurricane in the first round. Only the Jacksonville Jaguars and New Orleans Saints have not.
- The New York Giants have selected the most Hurricanes in the first round with five (5).
